Since I was missing this, I made it myself: [Octopart search chrome extension](https://github.com/lapauwThomas/Chrome-OctopartSearch).
All it does is take the selected text and format it into the Octopart query URL and open it in a new tab.
No, its not in the chrome web store since I have no account, and do not want to pay for one. So you need to add it as a developer. If you have a developer account you are allowed to publish it with proper attribution, and a sense of responsibility to update it (if it needs that).
Tell OctoPart. They may adopt it and run with it.
