  1. Eh, just redip it in a solder bath… Right?

  2. You think or you know?….

  3. I’m pretty sure that hole is supposed to be there.

  4. Clearly IGBT rights went too far. That one identifies as a carbonized hole.

  5. Ahh shii.. That’s my twin brother.. RIP!

  6. I believe you crossed the streams. A common problem, but if you check the application note it will mention the maximum roughness of your cooler needs to be and a minimum stream isolation.

  7. I’ve seen worse, no need to replace yet

  8. Did you try turning it off and then on again?

  9. Wash with water, that’s it

  10. There is a lesson learned buried in that picture.

  11. Idk man, seems fine to me.

  12. Incinerated-Gate Bipolar Transistor

  13. damn thats like 200$ gone in a puffff!

  14. Looks fine. Probably user fault.
Did you read the manual for that device?

  15. FYI: this IGBT was installed in a multi axis drive, while trying to find the displayed error (“intermediate circuit voltage to low”) i came across a burned pcb and this wonderfull IGBT. this was not an amateur DIY project but one faulty drive out of thousands made by the company i work for. also this faulty drive never left production as obviously it didnt pass the mandatory tests.

  16. Yep, pin 2 in the top right of the picture has some light corrosion that will result in intermittent current/signal. A light sanding will sort it right out.

  17. Could be that or could be that you just have to measure a bit more. Nothing that jumps into view right now

  18. It looks like all of the magic smoke has escaped. I hope you have a [magic smoke refill kit](http://ibm-1401.info/pictures/MagicSmoke.jpg).

  19. You might have a slight xenomorph infestation. That’s the aftermath of a chestburster hatching.

  20. Did you try restarting it?

  21. Need to put a lil seasoning on dat thang!

  22. Tis but a flesh wound

  23. Igbt? Internal goat brain terminal?

  24. Why u assuming it’s gay? /s

  25. Ship it; the software people can write a patch.

  26. Yikes that thing is toast. Also never seen one that small.

  27. Wrap it with a wet towel, and then put that in a big bag of rice. Should be good to go

  28. Yes, it looks like you let the magic smoke out.

  29. That was like that when you loaned it to me.

  30. What makes you say that?

  31. just clean it with some isopropyl and you’ll be fine I wouldn’t worry about it

  32. Have you tried turning it off and back on again

  33. That configuration of IGBTs is for amplifying purposes… Amplifying holes in PCBs

  34. Have a bit of fate in yourself and get rid of all these negative thoughts. Just hook it up, everything will be fine!!!

  35. I’ve heard of letting the magic smoke out, but it looks like it ran out at full force!

  36. It looks kind of cool though

  37. Looks like it got hit by a meteor.

  38. It’s fine. Just replace the fuse
