What does this board do exactly?
No quick and cheap internet PCB order in 1973 I guess 🙂
That’s just a [MAU](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium_Attachment_Unit), part of layer 1. It doesn’t really implement Ethernet in any significant way. It has a DIX (later [AUI](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attachment_Unit_Interface)) connector, and it looks more like a 10base2 (thinnet) one, not a 10base5 (thicknet) one, which would date it to the early to mid-’80s.
The electrical and electronics engineers invent everything, yet the programmers earn the good money. Seems wrong to me.
Anybody else put in a vampire tap on thicknet with the cable up?
