  1. How long did it last you?

  2. Ulysses last setting sail. That’s what I say when I reach the spool.

  3. I actually am working at a radio shack right now. That solder right there is my favorite stuff 🙂

  4. His name is 60/40 Rosin Core Solder

  5. I’ve had the same spool of Radio Shack solder since I was in 8th grade. I’m 23 now. It’s still probably 80% full as I solder rarely. It seems like the rosin burns a lot darker than it used to.

  6. lol remember the good ol’ days when you could walk into a radioshack and pull out tiny drawers filled with electronics for your amateur hobby

  7. I made sure to buy several spools during their going out of business sale.

  8. Here in europe I can’t get any leaded solder anymore… sad

  9. I still have a bit left on a spool, sadly it’s way thicker than that… They didn’t have much left when I went so I had to take so pretty thick solder, it’s thick as the stuff you’d use for plumbing…..

  10. i have never reached the end of a spool.

  11. CaN still buy for personal use in the UK. I use 63/37 myself.

  12. This got me all sentimental

  13. What do you like about RS solder? It’s been a while since I’ve used it!

  14. The way the black label at the top is all torn up reminds me of an old karateka’s black belt. You could always tell the high ranking black belts from the newly minted black belts by how worn they were. Some people even tried to scuff theirs up to make them look like they’d been training longer.

Just like an old black belt that spindle of solder has seen some shit.

  15. Battery of the MONTH!!

Did anyone ever figure out if the green batteries were better than the red ones?

  16. Worked at a tech company, went through rolls of these in a day. Not a competition, I just think it’s crazy one lasted so long the label looks like that.

  17. This is crazy. I had the same Radio Shack spool out today and thought to myself about the day I would run out. I miss Radio Shack.

  18. just buy more… https://www.radioshack.com/

why does everyone think they are out if business. they bankrupted then restructured as an online supplier like Amazon.

  19. First completed roll of solder in history. This belongs in a museum!

  20. Same, it was a hard day.

  21. Time for se Kester 63/37

  22. Idk what I’m going to do when Im down to my last roll of solder 😔 I bought everything they had at 90% off came up on like 7 rolls for less than $15 it was the second to last day before they permanently closed in my area….

  23. This comment section feels kinda astroturfy.

  24. 21 soldering gun salute.

  25. Are we blind? deploy the F’s!

  26. I used to work at RadioShack! Man we’re those the days…

  27. Wait how long did u use it? Are you hobbyist or professional?

  28. Sad story about radio shack tools. I had an old soldering iron that was one of the cheap thick chisel tip ones that plug directly into the wall and it finally broke. So I called my friend’s dad to borrow his and he told me to come over. He told me he had terminal brain cancer and would no longer need his tools in a month or two. He gave me a lifetime supply of electronics gear including [this radioshack soldering station](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.reverb.com%2Fimage%2Fupload%2Fs–4T150eyc–%2Ff_auto%2Ct_large%2Fv1537652115%2Ff6798x23qng8xwoqoz7z.jpg&f=1&nofb=1). It’s been a few years and it is still holding up amazingly well. He also gave me a huge stash of the RadioShack solder. IDK what it is about that solder rosin blend that just hits different than any other one I’ve used. I’m about half way though that stash and know one day I’ll have to go back to the cheapo amazon solder I used to use.
I’ve been thinking about getting a TS100 but I feel like I’ll be disappointed because the RadioShack solder station is already the top of the mountain.

  29. I still have a spool from TechAmerica, anyone remember those guys? Great resistor and capacitor assortments that came in terrific stackable drawers. Still use mine daily.

  30. My uncle gave me roundabout a dozen 500gram rolls of solder a few decades ago. Gave half away to a friend. Still havent finished a single roll meself…

  31. I used a lot of this over the years I worked in a Radio Shack repair center and tech support. Had a few rolls when I left, but ~2000 I switched over to Kester 60/40 .5mm that comes in 1lb spools. Am just finishing my third/starting my fourth spool.

  32. that name is 60/40 Rosin Core Solder.its very esy to soldaring
