Mom said her tv was overheating. 18 years of dust. Wish I left the dust on the fans before I cracked it open. Cleaned up and still works great.

My 2007 Pioneer KURO plasma is still going strong. I ought to open that up and clean it out!
Also this post probably gonna go *bye-bye*
That’s actually not that bad for those plasmas, they attract soo much dust. Normally you’d see balls of dust that you can grab with your hands.
Looks like there might be a puffy cap on the Y-Sus but the video moved pretty fast over it so I may be mistaking.
Oh god, plasma. That was such a bad idea. Forget nice things like HDR and 4K, you might want to swap that thing out just for the energy savings.
My general maintenance routine:
1) power on/off
2) clean dust
3) advanced measures
Wow they don’t build em like that anymore.
The best of technology, dust filter, heater and tv all in one. What amazing pieces of technology. Had a 60 inch one qnd though i miss the colors and contrast, i don’t miss the power bill.
Dude, that’s a plasma TV. Get rid of it. It takes 1KW of electricity every 3 hours.
18years old and its a flatscreen. This makes me feel old
Wow. Run a pair of those and your provider thinks you’re either running a grow house or a Crypto mine.
Does she need to use the air-conditioning in the summer? If so change the TV out. That is a heater with additional function as entertainment centre.
Not to split hairs but the tag during the zoom-in said manufactured Aug 2006 – which will be 16 years in August. I checked because I bought *nearly* the same model in April 2006 (TH-50PX60U – Manufactured March 2006) to prepare to watch the World Cup.
Mine has been through 1 move about a decade ago when it was definitely at least dusted, and yes, I can confirm in that time it has swallowed a ton of new dust (and maybe some dog hair.)
Still in use. It heats my house. It’s 99 lbs.
I have a TH-50X60U, August 2006.
We use it as a combo whitenoise generator / spaceheater.
Your mother a smoker? That’s 100x worse than dust for electronics. Dust is bad, but particles are large enough they don’t get too many places that it can’t be removed. Smoke dust is like powered sugar. Sticks to everything. Sticks to itself. Fun times.
My 42PX50 is also still ticking. Can’t kill that thing.
