  1. Just a quick update on my last post! This guy uses two unfolded paperclips as the resistive moisture sensor (could also use needles, roofing nails, push pins, etc.). This should make the circuit much more rust resistant than the cheap normal soil moisture sensors and are basically free!

    If you want to make the circuit almost completely rust proof you could use stainless steel sewing needles or galvanized nails as well!

  2. You can get some pretty thin stainless steel wire or rods at a welding supply store for really cheap too though you won’t be able to solder to it due to metallurgic differences. It’s easy enough to clamp a small lead to the end of a metal rod though.
