Holy crap this is cool. I was a TRS80 kid but also dabbled in electronics and I would have eaten this book up. Those pics of each completed project are like a shot of pure nostalgia.
Love seeing some old programming books! It went a lot more hand-in-hand with the hardware and electronics back then.
When I grew up with a Commodore 64 in the house I learned Basic from a book called “The Book of Basic”, which was spiral bound, and like a blueish or greenish cover. I have never been able to find even a reference to that book existing, and my family’s copy is long gone. Anyone else ever seen that one?
Use to have the Commodore 64 in my house. We had games like, Temple Of Apshai, Suspended, Sea Wolf (Cartridge) Music Machine (cartridge) PitStop (Cartridge). I used to get the magazine called “RUN” and find some easy programs to enter. I remember one issue had the program for “Beale’s Treasure”. That was a LONG program. I didn’t bother with it. We got ours from a place called “Audio Fidelity” off of West Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia back when the Commodore had just came on the market.
Really excited to get the recent Commodore 128 fires up and build some of these projects to share!
[archive.org](https://archive.org) has a pdf version of the book for download: [https://archive.org/details/Electronic_Projects_for_your_Commodore_64_and_128](https://archive.org/details/Electronic_Projects_for_your_Commodore_64_and_128). I haven’t read it yet, but it looks interesting.
I remember dreaming about having a 128.
I worked in the repair shop for The Vide King in Illinois. We used to fix these. It was fun, find the bad memory ic and then play a game for an hour.
My friend & Coworker Bil wrote a book that extensively details his experience designing the C128. The book is called Back Into The Storm IIRC.
