  1. I like drawing good looking schematics, but I hate most of the default symbol packages out there. So instead, I started redrawing schematic symbols from application notes, datasheets, textbooks, and other sources, trying to reproduce the original style as closely as possible. I used Inkscape to do all the drawing, since it’s free and highly flexible. The result is this repo, with hundreds of symbols in different styles, grouped by their source. It’s lightweight and simple to use, if you already know Inkscape. If you don’t, I included a list of “tips and tricks” to make sure your experience is smooth.

With this SVG file, you can recreate the beautiful schematics of Linear Tech and Nat Semi, or draw schematics to suite an academic context (Gray and Meyer, Art of Electronics). For a standard collection of symbols, IEEE Std 315-1975 has a fairly complete set with reasonable, neutral style.

Comments and improvements always welcome. I keep adding things to the collection, so check back every once in a while and you might get a new set.
