Been there, doing that.
Did a Hallicrafters S38B, and the precursor to that line, an Echophone EC-1A
Got a S38C pending, and a S38E mkII currently on the bench.
Restringing dial cords is an adventure.
Both sources cited, Antique and Hayseed excellent sources for parts.
Beware of a hot chassis, replace old AC line first thing.
Label radio somewhere date it was done.
Radios that glow sound nice. (grin)
