The bot uses the same PWM generator circuit I used in the servo solar tracker to create a PWM DC motor speed controller that drives two DC motors on the left and right side of the bot at different speeds depending on whether the left or right light dependent resistor is measuring more light, allowing the robot to point itself towards the light source.
Unfortunately right now it’s pretty dumb, this train has no breaks and will simply kamikaze itself into a light source if you let it, it also currently can’t reverse!
So awesome! I was just thinking of creating something very similar. Basically build the same mechanism on the bottom of a plant pot, essentially giving the plant the ability to seek out sunlight throughout the day. giving the plant some legs…
Really cool! Was thinking you could make a few of these follow each other by putting a light on the back of each of them. Choo choo!!

That is awesome
Cool stuff, would something like this be more or less energy efficient than a digital alternative?
What happens if you put it outside during the day?
You just recreated a 1950 design of the same thing using modern semiconductors.

Look grandma its that easy. Just let go.
You should name it “Icarus”.
Add another axis of movement and we have a heat seeking missile!
