    An interesting tidbit :

Senator Larry Pressler (R-SD) refused to take the bribe, saying at the time, “Wait a minute, what you are suggesting may be illegal.” He immediately reported the incident to the FBI.

Also the movie American Hustle is somewhat loosely based on this.

  2. I feel that we should probably try this again pretty soon…

  3. and now they get bribed by congress. oh how the turn tables

  4. I’m all for exposing the corruption and such.

But isnt that some kind of entrapment?

  5. “Senator there’s a problem at the essay contest, a little girl is losing faith in democracy!”

    “GOOD LORD!”

  6. That’s less than I would have expected.

  7. If this were done now, you would see an increase in that percentage, AND corrupt F.B.I.agents.

  8. They’d better not do that now, because Congress wouldn’t have a quorum.

  9. They need to do that again

  10. I feel like this number would be *much higher* today.

  11. Why did they stop the experiment?

  12. In 2022 America, Congress bribe you.

  13. This should be a regular practice.

  14. Congress has learned a lesson from this. They have put people and preventative measures in place to avoid being caught.

  15. Politician are the biggest crooks to over come this they started using Super Pacs and changing their own rules.

  16. **”Bribery is never the answer…”**

    ^At ^least, ^that ^is ^what ^they ^paid ^me ^to ^say

  17. Most politicians use legislative insider trading now to make their fortunes. It’s perfectly legal to pass legislation beneficial to a certain company and buy their stock. It’s also legal if friends and family benefit from political/business contacts.

  18. 25%? Those are rookie numbers. Gotta pump those up. It would be well over 75% today.

  19. And then the CIA let them go..

  20. …so Congress immediately passed a law banning the creation of fake companies to bribe members of Congress.

  21. If they try now it would be 99%

  22. “We’d like to drill for oil in Teddy Roosevelt’s head”

    “Teddy who?”

  23. Now it’s legal, but has a new name – **lobbying!**

  24. We’ve legalized this via PACs

  25. Let’s do this again

  26. The other 75% were holding out for more money

    /s, kind of

  27. The other 75% probably received a warning from someone about the bribe and didn’t take it even tho they would’ve enjoyed the bribe.

  28. Politicians outsmarted FBI with a “donation”

  29. It’s almost like Congress learned their lesson.
They revamped the FBI, changed the law and now, bribes are accepted by 100% of congress.

  30. Congress responded by making it legal to accept bribes from the wealthy.

  31. Seems like a great time to do this again.

  32. Can the FBI do things like this again instead of tweeting out MLK quotes on MLK day… when they attempted to kill MLK and arrange a suicide note that is still sealed by the Library of Congress until 2027 under J. Edgar Hoover’s file.

  33. I’d say it’s about 25% at most who wouldn’t accept it nowadays.

  34. I’m definitely for this, although I am curious. Does this fall under entrapment in todays world? Or is that something different ?

  35. If you did that today the agents and head of the investigation would be arrested for treason

  36. It’d be closer to 90% today

  37. Bribes dont exist anymore. Campaign donations, lobbyists, and PACs saw to that.

  38. How fast would kyrsten sinema go to jail?

  39. If we did this now, it’d be 100%, shit is insane, we need to flush the whole government and start new.
