Super basic resistive soil moisture sensor with my Ambient Light LED flasher circuit (from previous post). The circuit is super simple and works even in fairly dim lighting, but unfortunately it uses resistive soil moisture sensors which I’m told are prone to rust within 5-6 months. There are gold/silver plated sensors that apparently last a couple of years, but the longest lasting soil moisture sensors are typically capacitive sensors.
As someone with far too many houseplants, this is rad. Makes me wonder how you could scale it up if at all or if you’d just need one of these circuits per any plant / pot of soil.

That’s really cool
I absolutely love this, could you post the schematics somewhere? Honestly you could make money selling this as a diy kit. People would go nuts
This is awesome.
The wifi version sounds awesomer. Awesomest awestruck….. really cool
Hey, that’s pretty cool ngl!
But i would recommend changing the sensor from that version to a capacitive one.
Those type of sensor over time loose their coating and start releasing cooper into the soil
Nonetheless, pretty cool build!

I made one of these a couple of years ago.
My tip to you is – clean the boards once a month.
Look for things getting rusty and moldy and wipe it off, do not let a build up start.
